CAREER
Thanasi Kokkinakis’ resurgence on the ATP Tour began in January of 2022 when the Australian won his maiden ATP title in front of his hometown crowd in Adelaide, Australia.
After a breakout season on Tour in 2015, where a teenaged Kokkinakis reached as high as 69 in the world, the Aussie was sidelined with various injuries the following year. After returning to the game in 2017, he again faced an uphill battle with injuries in 2019 and 2020 but was still determined to regain his form – and be even better.
At the end of the 2021 season, Kokkinakis switched to the 7th-generation EZONE racquet, which would launch worldwide in January of 2022. Kokkinakis reached the semifinals in his first tournament of 2022, won his second in Adelaide – an ATP 250 event, then captured the 2022 Australian Open doubles title with fellow Aussie Nick Kyrgios in front of a raucous home crowd.
