In the space of two astonishing weeks during the 2024 South American clay-court swing, Sebastian Baez took his first ATP 500 title in Rio de Janeiro and then won another tournament, the ATP 250 in Santiago. The first player in four years to win multiple titles during that swing, Baez moved into the top 20 in the ATP Rankings for the first time. While Baez has taken most of his six ATP singles titles on clay – five of the six tournaments he has won have been on that surface – his success in Winston-Salem in 2023 showed he can also play to an extremely high level on hard courts.
