AARHUS, Denmark– The 2020 Thomas and Uber Cup finals commenced on Saturday October 9th after being postponed last year due to the global pandemic. The competition is being held in Denmark for the first time in the tournament’s history, making this it’s first time back to Europe in sixty-two years.

This bi-annual team championship is made up of 16 men’s and 16 women’s teams representing their respective country. The men’s competition, known as the Thomas Cup, runs alongside the women’s Uber Cup. The teams compete in round-robin group stages with hopes of advancing into the elimination rounds, beginning Friday. Each match-up consists of a best-of-five system comprised of three singles matches and two doubles matches.

The reigning champions, China and Japan, stepped onto the courts on the first day, showcasing their desire to retain their title.
